“For me Art is the thread that pulls together the beauty of all my senses. As both a studio artist and plein air painter I devote myself to observation and the focus of understanding color, light and the breath of nature that touches everything."
Artist Statement from Katie Clymer (right)
I’ve been painting landscapes with a focus upon the sky for many years. In a time when smartphones, 24-hour news, and technology dominate our attention, audiences seems increasingly drawn to the open space and calm that my paintings provide.
My goal is to offer the viewer a place of peace and respite, a mental break from the busyness that we all face every day.
Some of my work is inspired by actual places in the Midwest, while others are inspired by memories, colors, and feelings I’ve experienced as I observe the natural world.
I hope these paintings inspire you to look up often, and to remember that the natural world around us is a gift we are given every single day.
Both artists have studios located in the Solar Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis!
